So, I learnt using grids to enhance my proportion with portrait drawings in 2021. I found it very useful and have been on it for a while. But in 2023, I thought to myself, What if I try a freehand drawing again? And in November of 2023, I made this drawing.

The beginning was so rough! I had to erase a lot. It was a real struggle but with much consistency,I completed the drawing.

Drawing with grids is really helpful but but there’s a bigger flex with the freehand method.

Since that time, I’ve really wanted to get more practice with the freehand but I’ve not really gotten the chance to. Lately I’ve heard of the Loomis method and I’m trying to understand how it works. I’ve made few attempts but still struggling to get things right at the moment but with much practice I know can understand it well enough.
