Gereon Kratz born 1978 in Koblenz lives and works in Germany and Venezuela as Painter, draftsman, graphic artist, illustrator, composer Musical and artistic talent was identified and encouraged in early childhood. At the age of 5 he attended a painting school in Hennef under the direction of Heinz Lingen, who founded the RSAK (Rhein-Sieg Academy for Realistic Art and Design) in 1986. Among other things, he attended the technical college for design, spent 2 years at a state-sponsored school (imal) for fine arts and studied 3 semesters at the Academy of Fine Arts with Prof. Markus Oehlen in Munich. His pictorial language consists of abstract, intuitive, as well as representational painting, graphics, drawings, photography and digital collage. Various trips and stays abroad in large parts of Europe, the Near and Middle East, as well as North, Central and South America influence his view of the things. He uses anatomy, portraiture, landscapes and architecture to express and illustrate his inner world. In his presentations, he discusses analytically and humanely, personal issues, reflects emotions or captures social processes that are in the spirit of the times and captures them both as a factual context or playfully with humor and sarcasm in order to interpret them as satire. His works are intended to provide food for thought for self-reflection and for the conscious perception of the external stimuli and influences of the viewer. Symbolism is used in a targeted manner. He depicts various, often controversial characters. He likes to give animals human traits. Kratz is not just limited to anatomy, but breathes character traits into his beings. Freely developed or based on real identities or archetypes, he leaves his characters in neutral light appear. In doing so, he almost always shows them in their fallibility. As an experienced commissioned painter, he likes to visualize the ideas of others without letting himself be put in front of the cart as a propagandist. Since 1998 there have been a number of exhibitions, participation in trade fairs and various commissioned works, both in public space, for television and for private art lovers in Germany and Venezuela.
